Our Comic Book Series
on Development Practices in Pakistan
Dear friends, mentors, and teachers,
|
We appreciate the thoughtful responses we have received from our readers about our recent publication “Learning how to fish is all that I wanted”. It narrates the story of a rural community worker in the Sindh province of Pakistan of converting her personal tragedy into an amazing success through hard work and commitment. We have produced 4 comic books, 3 in English and one in Urdu. Our first English book was a 73-page comic book about Shoaib Sultan Khan's legendary work. The book was named Superheroes of Community Service: Thinking Globally, Acting Locally. Our second comic book was about the work of Ms. Seema Aziz named "One Person's Mission to Teach One Million Children". You have already seen the third book. Our Urdu comic book was "Kursi Wali Nokary" (Office Job). There is one more comic book coming next month. The last two books in the series have been made possible due to 2 individual donations received from our well-wishers.

Thank you for sharing the comic book. This is an excellent initiative. We need more such content in Urdu/Punjabi/Pushto/Baluchi. Our children are getting an overdose of orthodoxy at a tender age. We have too many tales singing praises of jangjoos and generals from medieval times being told to the children. We need to celebrate women in our folklore and vernacular. We must tell stories of ordinary and extraordinary women to our children. Not much about present-day women is mentioned in the curriculum. Hence, your initiative is welcomed.
